conscious travel ~ an imperfect quest

Project Overview

The goal of this project was to communicate the impacts of climate change in the form of a solution based short film through the eyes of 3 travellers. Team leader Beatrice Vu got to witness the negative effects of tourism and see the heart wrenching environmental changes firsthand in Antarctica. This inspired a collaboration between Jessica-Marie and Alex Walsh and herself, in search of sustainable ways to travel.

For the film’s success the team focused on the following:

Experiencing a multi-day backpacking adventure along Patagonia’s W trek
Working with Eco Camp Patagonia to learn about their sustainable efforts in luxury glamping
Interviewing regenerative farmers at Hotel Las Torres Patagonia
Implementing solutions along our journey for small steps towards a better future

A Short film journey

To capture with integrity is at the core of our values, therefore we knew it was important to execute the film production while making intentional choices for our planet Earth.

During peak seasons, the influx of tourists often strains local ecosystems, leading to overcrowding, waste buildup, and the depletion of natural resources.

Off-season travel, on the other hand, reduces this pressure, allowing landscapes and wildlife, and communities to recover and rejuvenate. Additionally, fewer visitors mean less carbon output from transportation and energy use, making it a more sustainable choice.

Lucky for us, while choosing to travel off season, Mother Nature thanked us by showing off her spectrum of fall colours amidst the rugged landscape.
